SESAME SEEDS

These seeds are considered the oldest oilseed crop in the world and have been cultivated for more than 3,500 years. The sesame plant is not more than 3 feet tall and the seeds are released from small pods along the plants’ axes. They come in a wide variety of colors, depending on the variety or strain of the sesame plant.

Sesame seeds are tiny, flat oval seeds with a nutty taste and a delicate, almost invisible crunch. They come in a host of different colors, depending upon the variety, including white, yellow, black and red.

Many of the health benefits are derived from the oils, which are found in higher concentration in sesame seeds than in any other oilseed crop in the world.
